POSITION TITLE: Advance Quality Engineer
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Global Engineering Manager
PAY STRUCTURE: Salary
PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION: Translate customer expectations to the manufacturing facilities, represent the company in contact with the customer, oversee quality launch functions and maintain the Document Control System.
-Degree in a Technical Field or the equivalent of years in the position.
-Automotive customer (OEM) interaction/experience
-Ability to translate drawing requirements to acceptable gauge and fixture design. Includes understanding of datum schemes and GD&T
-Control Plan, Process Flow, FMEA, MSA, Customer specific requirements
-Quality System Experience (ie. IATF 16949)
-Quality System Auditing/auditor
-Sample Submission process and components:
AIAG PPAP for GM-FCA-Ford, SQAM for Toyota and IPPAAR for Honda
-Customer product launch requirements (ie. Safe launch, FTT, PPAP, capability studies, GRR, MSA)
-Customer Quality System requirements (ie. Web based portals and response system)
-Good written and verbal communication skills
-Fact Based Problem Solving: Understands and practices the process of fact based problem solving and the tools (4Ms, Y Tree, Is/Is Not, 3X5, fishbone, 5 Whys) associated with that process.
-Statistical Tools: is well versed in the use of SPC, regression analysis, significance testing, measurement system
-Customer Relations: Interprets and internally communicates customer expectations related to product quality and quality systems.
-Computer Literate: Ability to calculate and analyze data, generate reports, present information, etc. (minitab)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Complete and communicate Quality launch activities for new programs per customer specific product requirements.
-Set up part file folders.
-Submission of customer required documents for part approvals.
-Work with site specific QM to develop Inspection Standards that meet customer requirements and get sign-off if applicable.
-Create or manage IMDS as requested by Customers
-Communicate customer specific changes.
-Participate in external Quality Management Systems audits and subsequent surveillance audits
-Support the plant location during launch (customer interaction and launch product runs).
-Travel as needed to the customer and manufacturing sites.
-Review engineering standards to ensure that they are captured correctly.
-Review drawing for accuracy
-Review fixture design to insure in process and final assembly functionality.
-Collaborate with site QM to create and maintain safe launch activities.
-Review and approve supplier PPAPs.
-Manage the change management system and activities.
